The deadly tornadoes that hit the town of Moore, Okla., this week left a path of terrible destruction and damage. Now, the state’s college football teams are playing their part to help the victims of the tragedy.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa have banded together to sell 2013 Oklahoma Disaster Relief T-shirts, which feature all three team logos and the phrase “OK TOGETHER.” The shirts, available in short-sleeve and long-sleeve versions, are only for sale on all three schools’ athletic websites. All proceeds go directly to the United Way for disaster relief efforts.

Oklahoma’s SoonerSports.com team shop described the idea behind the T-shirt sales:

Three talented quarterbacks in the fold at the same time is a nice problem to have, but one Oklahoma State won’t be wrangling with in the near future. Wes Lunt, who made headlines last season as the Cowboys’ first true freshman starting quarterback in over a half-century, has announced his intent to transfer out of Stillwater. Lunt released the following statement through the school’s sports information department:

“This was not a decision I took lightly, but it is a decision that I felt was right for me. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the entire Oklahoma State University community. Specifically, I would like to thank the coaches, players, and the whole OSU football family. I wish the Cowboys the best of luck in the future.”

Lunt’s 2012 campaign was an injury-prone affair, and he finished with just five starts. This is, however, Oklahoma State, which makes Lunt’s 1,100-yard passing total the furthest thing from surprising. His departure leaves Clint Chelf and J.W. Walsh as the friskiest ponies in Gundy’s quarterbacking stable.

Earlier this week, Oklahoma State announced the #AskGundy social media initiative, which has Mike Gundy answering several questions on a wide range of topics each day via his Twitter account. This is the internet, and we knew right away what this was made for:

Today, the message got through. Today, we have our answer.

It’s been a big offseason, relatively speaking, for Teams Unafraid Of Blue Turf, and as of Friday, Boise State’s future nonconference dance card has filled out even more: Adding to future exchanges with UConn, Florida State and Virginia, the Broncos have just announced a home-and-home series with Oklahoma State, with a 2018 date in Stillwater and a 2021 return trip to Boise.

The 2018 game will mark the first meeting between the Cowboys and Broncos, as well as providing ample Wild West-themed bulletin board material. Per Boise, the matchup will also mark the first time the Broncos have ever played a Big 12 opponent during the regular season. (The last time they played a Big 12 opponent in the postseason, Oklahoma State fans might gleefully recall, this happened.)

Before you ask: Yes, this is probably why.

A thing we like: Coaches being frank about the relative strengths of their players. From Oklahoma State’s latest practice report, here’s Mike Gundy:

“Our quarterbacks will run the ball based on who is in there. J.W. Walsh will do it because he’s really good at it and Clint Chelf is better and more effective at it than you think. Clint runs and doesn’t look good doing it, then you look up and he has 12 yards when you thought he had three. So, he’s more effective at it. If Wes Lunt is in, we aren’t going to do it a lot. It’s not rocket science to figure out that’s not what he does.”

    Refreshing, no?

Fans of large smashy men banging themselves together on a football field while wearing varying shades of red, rejoice: 2015′s season-opening Cowboys Classic will feature Wisconsin and Alabama on September 5. You will recall that the Tide have a history of recent success in Arlington; ‘Bama returns to Atlanta for the 2013 season opener versus Virginia Tech. The move extends a streak of interesting-looking high-profile nonconference matchups, with LSU and TCU scheduled for 2013 and Florida State and Oklahoma State (States Florida-and-Oklahoma?) booked for 2014.

Assorted items of varying degrees of interest which you may have missed while grudgingly watching playoff football and sending surly tweets to the Golden Globes:

    • The NCAA is Lucy, and Miami football is the football, and we are Charlie Brown running toward it, or something? This metaphor holds up only to demonstrate how very much we wish for this all to be over, but here we go: The Miami Herald is calling the release of NCAA allegations against the Hurricanes football program “imminent,” just short of the investigation’s two-year anniversary. Bylaw Blogger John Infante lays out all the ways this process could still be stalled, and how the Miami case might affect Oregon’s.

    • Mike Stoops also a fan of Hi Haters Friday! Friday night, 6:06 p.m., Tulsa Worlds John E. Hoover posts a transcript excerpt of a Mike Stoops radio interview, specifically a question regarding Johnny Football: “They’re gonna be tough to deal with. If they can keep him out of jail or keep him eligible, he’s gonna be pretty good.” Friday night, 10:37 p.m., Tulsa World post headline: “Mike Stoops regrets controversial comments on Manziel.” Had Stoops’ defense possessed that kind of on-the-fly adaptability in the Cotton Bowl, perhaps Manziel would not have scored four touchdowns against it, PAAAOWL.

    • Roster blotter. In better news for Miami: Seantrel Henderson, Brandon Linder and Curtis Porter announced Monday morning they all intend to return to the ‘Canes in 2013 … in even better news for Profiteroles fans, Dri Archer will stay on for his senior season at Kent State … Iowa State quarterback Jared “That Kid Who Beat Oklahoma State” Barnett and linebacker C.J. Morgan intend to transfer … Texas defensive tackle Brandon Moore will enter the draft … also declaring is USC corner Nickell Robey, whom we will dearly miss watching because of his too-perfect defensive name … Oregon linebacker Anthony Wallace will transfer … Case McCoy and Jordan Hicks have been reinstated at Texas … and Casey Pachall returns to the Horned Frogs.

    • Eagles to turn next to R. Kelly. There are folks getting awfully het up at Brian Kelly (subscription required) for his dalliances with the Philadelphia Eagles, who are just trying to live frugally after printing up all those WE <3 COACH KELLY cocktail napkins for Chip.

Elsewhere in coach-hirin’ follies: Obvious international superspy Bob Toledo will rejoin Rocky Long as offensive coordinator at San Diego State … Chuck Bresnahan will coordinate Willie Taggart’s defense at South Florida … Bill Young is out and Glenn Spencer is in as Oklahoma State’s defensive coordinator … Texas A&M swipes West Virginia’s quarterbacks coach to serve as co-offensive coordinator in College Station … and from Regular Virginia, Kevin Sumlin snags an assistant who’d been with the Cavaliers for just over a week.

    • Roster blotter. Eddie Lacy, Dee Milliner and D.J. Fluker will all leave Alabama early to enter the NFL draft … Clint Moseley has left Auburn football, though not Auburn … also draft-bound, Clemson’s Nuke Hopkins, Washington State’s Marquess Wilson and Georgia’s Kwame Geathers … Joseph Randle to turn pro, per Joseph Randle … LSU has, at last count, 11 early departures … notable non-departures include Texas A&M’s Jake Matthews and Texas’ Mike Davis … and spare some healing vibes for Notre Dame’s Kapron Lewis-Moore, whose BCS title game injury has been confirmed as an ACL tear.

Mike Gundy takes a question from the 2013 Heart of Dallas Bowl trophy. (AP)

The 2013 Heart of Dallas Bowl is just hours away. We’re sure you have so many questions. We’re here to help. (For an X’s and O’s breakdown, click through to Matt Dollinger’s game preview.)

What’s all this, then? All this is the Heart of Dallas Bowl, neé TicketCity Bowl, one of the youngest games in postseason college football. The heart in Heart of Dallas is an actual mission statement: “Demonstrating Heart of Dallas’ commitment to its home city, net profits from the inaugural event will benefit charities serving the homeless population in Dallas.”

Where will this game be played? The Cotton Bowl in Dallas. But it’s not the Cotton Bowl. The Cotton Bowl is now played in Cowboys Stadium, and yes, we’re almost through with this line of questioning, as we are about out of available citrus fruits.

When is it on television? Coverage begins at noon ET on ESPNU, with streaming on WatchESPN. Clay Matvick, Matt Stinchcomb and Kaylee Hartungwill relay the action.

Whom does it feature? The Big Ten versus either Conference USA or the Big 12.

What about this year? An odd coupling of Purdue (6-6) and Oklahoma State (7-5).

    • Does the bowl have a social media presence? It does, and it needs your help!
