Oregon to debut Nike ‘Mach Speed’ uniforms vs. Texas

Oregon Ducks

Oregon will debut new Nike Pro Combot “Mach Speed” uniforms in the Alamo Bowl against Texas on Dec. 30, the company announced on Friday.

Nike’s newer lightweight uniforms place an emphasis on speed:

The uniform features an all-new chassis including the latest in lightweight fabric innovation built for maximum speed, ventilation and comfort. Drawing inspiration from some of the fastest athletes in the world, Nike has applied research and design across multiple sports to create one of the fastest uniforms on the field. Taking insights from Nike’s Swift Suit technology, the new Nike Mach Speed Football uniform fabric construction features an articulated fit to match the athlete’s motion of play. Ultimately this allows the athletes to move with the uniform fabrics, rather than against them.

Oregon’s new uniforms will feature a few design updates, as well.

The new 2014 uniform design updates the traditional Duck wing pattern to cover the entire shoulder and arm panels. This bold, directional split-wing pattern update spreads out from the center of the chest helps to provide increased abrasion protection across the shoulders. The pant design showcases strong graphic embellishments, reading “Oregon” on the right leg and “Ducks” on the left. Oregon’s latest helmet design features a split wing pattern that mimics the shoulder design.

Hate on Nike all you want but all their stuff has become trendy.  What has Adidas or Under Armor brought to the table (how are those long-sleeved NBA jerseys working out?).

How about some 'mach toughness' uniforms so you don't fold like cheap bacon when a team punches you in the mouth.

These dont look any different than anything else theyve worn.  Unless they are wearing the latest military grade 50 caliber resisting super lightweight padding that is liquid but becomes harder than steel upon any impact and then reliquifies a half second later, then I dont give a crap.  Show me something new, not just the same thing packaged differently.

Maybe Nike should have also implemented some of the latest "keep your composure and at least try to be humble" fabric to go along with the innovative lightweight fabric, so that Oregon doesn't continue to be a matchstick team breaking against real teams.

I think Oregon is just running out of ideas. I saw the one with the yellow feathers, they look like giant sunflowers.

What a load of marketing crap. It's a uniform---like that's going to make you win games...

It's bad when a program is known more for its uniforms than its play.  Enough with the wings already -- they're not eagle wings or hawk wings or something cool like that --- they are DUCK wings.

Can't win the PAC-12, but did win the Mr. Blackwell Fashion Award in a landside.

New uniforms for Oregon.  Shocking.  In a related story, the Sun will rise in the east tomorrow.

@Choutsu No knowledge of how they do more with less doesn't mean they aren't good.

@TIM14 Yeah cause Chip Kelly's offense never did anything for him...............

@mystafugee Name a top 10 team not from the west coast that they've actually beaten in the last 5 years. That's how. Much more interested in their new uniforms every week than they are their toughness.

@CharlieFoxtrot Only number of Chip Kelly's time at Oregon that truly matters. 0-2 against top ten teams from the SEC. Oh and ZERO championships. Because Kelly's defense sucked.

@Biff-Johnson And yet Bama's not the one under NCAA investigation for paying players. Oregon on the other hand is. Can't even do that right....
