Quarterback Everett Golson readmitted to Notre Dame
Everett Golson, the quarterback who led Notre Dame to the 2012 BCS title game as a freshman, has been readmitted to school, the Fighting Irish announced on Friday.
Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly told ESPN’s Matt Fortuna earlier this month that Golson would be returning to school soon. In May, Golson was dismissed for the fall semester due to a flagrant violation of the school’s honor code. The quarterback told SI.com’s Andy Staples in October that the violation resulted from “poor judgment on a test.”
Asked by Staples if he’d cheated on a test, Golson said, “Yeah, something like that.”
As a redshirt freshman in 2012, Golson led the Fighting Irish to the BCS title game, where they lost to Alabama 42-14. He started 12 of 13 games, throwing for 2,405 yards and 12 touchdowns, with six interceptions. Golson completed 58.8 percent of his passes and finished the season with a 131.0 quarterback rating. He was also a rushing threat, gaining 298 yards and scoring six touchdowns on the ground.
