Florida completed a 4-8 (3-5 SEC) campaign with a 37-7 loss to Florida State on Saturday. On Sunday, the Gators began this offseason’s personnel overhaul. Offensive coordinator Brent Pease was fired after meeting with head coach Will Muschamp earlier this morning.

The Gators suffered more than their share of injuries in 2013, headlined by the loss of starting quarterback Jeff Driskel (fibula) and running back Matt Jones (knee). However, that clearly didn’t excuse the performance of an attack that ranked 112th nationally in total offense (316.7 yards per game). Florida averaged 18.8 points per game, 111th in the country.

School athletic director Jeremy Foley has repeatedly backed third-year coach Muschamp. The Gators owe Pease about $1.2 million for the remaining two years of his contract, according to the AP’s Mark Long.

According to CBS’ Bruce Feldman, offensive line coach Tim Davis has also been let go.

This upcoming year will show a lot of what players think of Muschump. I would be surprised if UF gets a top #25 signing class. All these High School players pay attention to what surrounds a program and unless UF gets an offensive guru, which I dont know of any that are chomping at the bits to go to UF, this off season recruiting clas will show what confidence players have for UF.

It's official: Muschamp must have compromising photos of Jeremy Foley stashed somewhere.

I do not know if anybody saw it during the game because it was very hard to sit for the entire shameful event. But, during UF's only scoring drive the offensive play calling changed. They showed a lot of the Pease from Boise St instead of the last two years at UF.  Had a lot of misdirection and isolation trying to get mismatches... Was I imagining it or it did happen right? Or was it the players have been not running the correct plays the last two years? Dont get me wrong, UF's offense the last two years had not cracked the top 100 so a change was needed. But was Muschump running the offense or was Pease the last two years?

BTW: Purifoy song long farewell I hope round two or three suits you. You dont want Gator Nation and Gator Nation does not want your diva attitude! Your stock in the NFL draft has dropped rapidly as the year progressed and in the FSU game you were burned more times (dont mention push offs because it is what they do in the NFL) than whiskey barrels at Jack Daniels!

@jacksonatl

how much do they owe on Muschamp's contract? I bet that's why he has not been let go.

@dandogwood Uh, Brent Pease was the offensive coordinator.  You know, the guy in charge of coordinating the offense.  That would be the same offense that was very bad this year.  You need to pay closer attention.

@Papi Del Negro..... Dont ask The best, most-respected, most highly-successful athletic director in the nation? Anyhow, certainly Muschamp has one year to prove himself. If they under-perform (fail to compete through to the end of the season for the East) then of course Muschamp is gone. But, when you talk about firing the AD, you should really get a clue.

@biasedsportsfan @Papi Del Negro..... Dont ask Foley? RESPECTED? I wanted ol horse teeth out when he threw Spurrier under the bus at the end of his tenure at UF. If it was not for Foley hating all the attention going to OBC (thats Ol Ball Coach if you didnt know) and not having his back when OBC ranted about terrible missed calls when other players were intentionally trying to hurt UF's QB. (FSU hand stomp anybody??) That is just one example for the record books!
