Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray will undergo surgery on Tuesday for a torn ACL suffered in Saturday’s win over Kentucky, the school confirmed to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald. The injury ends the senior’s career with the Bulldogs.

Murray went down after Wildcats defensive lineman Za’Darius Smith hit him late in the second quarter of the Bulldogs’ 59-17 win over the Wildcats. Murray was helped off the field by trainers and the school later announced that he sustained a left knee injury.

In less than two quarters of action, Murray completed 18-of-23 passes for 183 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. Georgia junior Hutson Mason took over at quarterback following Murray’s departure, finishing 13-of-19 for 189 yards and a touchdown. Mason is set to start in the Bulldogs’ regular-season finale against Georgia Tech.

On Sunday morning Murray offered thanks to the Georgia fan base on Twitter.

Murray ends his career with the Bulldogs as the SEC’s leading passer. He has 13,166 yards and 121 touchdowns. Even with most of his playmakers suffering injuries and his defense letting Georgia down for much of the year, Murray continued to make plays and showed a lot of heart this season. In the right system, he could have a successful NFL career, assuming of course he heals from the ACL tear and doesn’t suffer any setbacks.

Trolls are bad, m'kay. Aaron Murray is good. Thanks for all you've done for UGA and best of luck in what is surely a bright future.

Miller's a loser. He'll be selling insurance next fall. Never amounted to spit at UGA.
