Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase’s father has been banned from the university’s campus for a year after being arrested during the Illini’s home game against Michigan State on Saturday, the Indianapolis Star reports.

The paper reports that the incident stemmed from an argument between Scheelhaase’s father and university police.

University police chief Jeff Christensen said Tuesday that Nathan Creer was arrested after an argument at Memorial Stadium during Saturday’s game. Christensen said Creer became “somewhat aggressive” with officers.

The report says that campus bans are standard protocol when “someone who isn’t a student or university employee is suspected of creating trouble at the school.”

On Monday, Creer pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest and obstructing an officer.

Knowing how arrogant rude and confrontational most police are these days I wonder if they gave him an order that they had no right to give him in the first place and if they did he was not "obligated" to obey it. A uniform and a badge is being used these days as a means of intimidation and harassment. The militarization of our police departments that started under Reagan and have just skyrocketed in intensity the last 6 years is a problem. If the guy was being rude or drunk and was asked to chill out and he instigated the problem then fine him but I am becoming more and more skeptical of anything most cops say. Until I see a change in their behavior they wont get my trust back. About 20 miles from my house in Covington Louisiana a Policeman was on the sideline watching his son play football and some of the sons friends were brought down to the filed by him and after 32 warnings about staying off the field the referee told him to leave the field he got angry called for back up and arrested the referee and the line judge. They were taken off the field in handcuffs.  Days later the Chief resigned. Would be funny if it were not so sad!

My guess is the phrase "Do you know who I am?" was uttered.

Did the Chief argue with Campus Police, too?

Is this a white kid with s last name different from his father?  Jeez, ghetto lifestyles are contagious as working lifestyles become "old school".

@Bazelope wow, racist much?  I mean, you managed to piss off every possible side here.  I'll admit, it was poetically ignorant on all levels.

@BazelopeHave you perhaps considered that Nathan Scheelhaase's parents may be divorced and he took his mom's name?

@kgolay6969 @donald5  Congrats!  Your comment makes no sense whatsoever.  And, apparently, punctuation is not on your list at all.
