Notre Dame defensive lineman Louis Nix III will not travel for the Fighting Irish’s game against Air Force this weekend, Irish Illustrated reports.

Nix, a senior defensive tackle, injured his shoulder late in last week’s 14-10 win over USC. He did not return to the game and has not practiced this week. Nix has recorded 22 tackles with two tackles for loss on the season.

Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees, who suffered a neck strain against the Trojans, told the Chicago Tribune‘s Brian Hamilton that he will “absolutely” start against the Falcons on Saturday. Rees left the USC game during the third quarter, at which point the Irish passing game floundered. Senior backup Andrew Hendrix went 0-for-4 in the second half.

Hope Notre Dame has recovered from their beatdown last January

Defensive linemen are not fond of playing option teams.  I'm sure is more than happy to take the game off to heal

@SECownsCFB  Great -  a beatdown by a school that graduates 20% of its players.  Notre Dame graduates over 90% of its players, many of whom attend the top medical and law schools in the country.  The SEC may own college football, but how many of its players (not to mention their fans0 own their own teeth?

@SECownsCFB a beatdown to a team that had like 15 guys on scholarship than them, a team that has a "football staff" of like 15 more than them, a team that's perfected the art of the "medical hardship," a team that lets in anyone w/ half a pulse, a team with a graduation rate significantly lower than them . . . i could go on . . .
