Washington going with black matte and purple helmets against Oregon

Pac-12, Uniforms, Washington Huskies

Finally, we can stop talking about faking injuries and Pac-12 refs and move onto more important things, like uniforms. Washington is upping the ante a bit against Oregon this weekend and has joined the matte revolution. I’ve been saying for awhile now that purple works great a secondary color, and it shows through nicely on the dark helmets. The gold trim around the “W” is also sharp. It might not beat Oregon’s Daft Punk alternates, but for the Huskies, it works just fine.

This weekend’s Oregon-Washington game has the potential to be one of the best games of a pretty light Saturday slate, and the Pac-12 did us a favor by putting it at 4:00 p.m. ET, so as to help everyone catch up on a bit of sleep as fall allergies start to pummel us into a fraction of what we used to be.

I must be getting old.  I still remember when discussions before a football game were based upon who had the better defense or whether or not the rain might hinder a passing attack.  Sometimes we even talked about the impact that an injured star player might have on the outcome.  Now...not so much.
