Mark Richt: Georgia RB Todd Gurley “doubtful” for Missouri game

Todd Gurley injured his ankle on the tackle by LSU safety Craig Loston on Sept. 28. He has not played since.

Georgia has played back-to-back grueling games, and the physicality has taken its toll with the Bulldogs losing players to injury all over. Running back Keith Marshall and wide receiver Justin Scott-Wesley are now out for the year after suffering injuries against Tennessee, and receiver Michael Bennett has already been ruled out for the Missouri game due to a knee scope.

Now, it’s looking as though running back Todd Gurley is unlikely to go against the Tigers on Saturday, as well.

Missouri is suddenly 5-0 and won convincingly against Vanderbilt last Saturday. The Tigers boast a strong offense, and with the Bulldogs’ young defense still struggling at times this season, the last thing Georgia wants this week is a shootout.

The Dawgs have plenty of depth, but once guys start going down due to injury, the margin for error drops. Georgia desperately needs Gurley healthy for the stretch run, so if there’s any doubt regarding his ability to play, Richt will probably keep him out to make sure he doesn’t re-injure his ankle.

ELLIS: More injuries couldn’t keep Georgia from victory against Tennessee

Nice photo of out-of-bounds hit by LSU.

Mizzu looks decent right now, but I still think Georgia takes this one.

JJ Green and the Douglas kid will step up. Reminds me of Larry Munson talking about "the freshman backs" the Dogs had to rely on years ago, Stewart and Womack.
