The injuries just keep on coming at Florida. Just a few days after starting quarterback Jeff Driskel went down against Tennessee and was lost for the season with a broken fibula, standout defensive tackle Dominique Easley “tweaked” his knee in practice on Tuesday, an injury that seemed to be serious.

Gators coach Will Muschamp didn’t offer many details during the SEC teleconference on Wednesday. “Dominique Easley tweaked his knee yesterday,” Muschamp said. “We’ll see how it goes.” Muschamp later added: “We just need more information right now and we’re going through that process at this time.”

UPDATE: And that “tweak” is, in fact, a torn ACL, Florida announced Thursday evening. Muschamp confirmed:

“Obviously, it is hardest on Dominique. We are disappointed for him, but we will be there for him every step of the way through his surgery and rehab process.”

Easley tweeted what appeared to be a telling indication of his status this morning:

Keep in mind, Florida has downplayed major injuries in the past:

Easley, a 6-foot-2, 280-pound senior from Staten Island, N.Y., has five tackles, including two for loss, through three games in 2013. He was a major presence on a unit that currently ranks second nationally in total defense, allowing a mere 212.3 yards per game.

The 20th-ranked Gators (2-1) travel to Lexington to play Kentucky on Saturday.
