Report: Virginia Tech developing ‘Hokie Stone’ helmets
There appears to be an alternate helmet in the works for Virginia Tech’s uniforms. Andy Bitter of the Roanoke Times and the Virginian-Pilot tweeted a picture of a “Hokie Stone” concept helmet currently in development within the program.
The term “Hokie Stone” refers to the grey limestone rock used in many of the buildings on Virginia Tech’s campus. Hokies players are unlikely to don the new helmets anytime soon, though, as the new look is simply in the preliminary stages of design.
Called Virginia Tech for some details on that stone helmet. It's in the beginning stages of design. Not clear when/if it'll be worn, either.—

Earlier this week, Virginia Tech unveiled camouflage helmets that it will wear on Military Appreciation Day (also the team’s “white-out” game) against Marshall this weekend.
