Is this weekend’s Alabama-Texas A&M matchup the new Game of the Century? If box-office sales are any indication, that might be the case.

Forbes.com reports that tickets to attend the No. 1 Crimson Tide’s game against the sixth-ranked Aggies in College Station on Saturday are listed at an average of $763 on the secondary market. That’s $50 more than the 2011 matchup between No. 1 LSU and No. 2 Alabama, which was then billed as the Game of the Century.

This Saturday’s meeting between Alabama and A&M has been generating hype ever since Johnny Manziel led the Aggies to an upset of ‘Bama in Tuscaloosa last season. ESPN’s College GameDay will be on site for the matchup, and SI.com’s Richard Deitsch has reported that CBS will keep one camera on Manziel for the entirety of its broadcast.

The two teams kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS.

Absolutely ABHOR live football games. Been to many; even 2 Super Bowls, and if you don't go strictly for the party (tailgating, etc) it's a waste of money. Unlike a baseball game, you can't SEE anything....just a buncha people runnin' this way, a buncha people runnin' that way.

I'm with the majority on this one...way better to chill at home, flip on the 70", get drunk as a 3-legged billy goat, and not have to worry about being arrested, paying ridiculous prices above & beyond the cost of the ticket, etc...

Sad to see these people wasting all their welfare money on this game.

Game of the century, game of the century. Every year it's the same old hype. Besides, the century is young so even if it IS the game of the century it's no big deal. Just a good game to watch. Number 6 against number 1. Nothing more.

Of course. The players are demanding a larger cut.

I honestly don't understand why anyone, unless the tickets are free or it's the superbowl, would pay significant amounts of money to go to these events anymore. With  the introduction of HD television, being able to watch replays of questionable calls, and getting a perfect view of every single play that occurs in the field as well as the sidelines to see the teams' intricate emotional reactions to the goings on, it just doesn't make sense...not to mention the $9 beers, drunk and belligerent homers for either team, and the crowds going in and out of the stadium. It's seems as if my viewing experience is not only lessened when I go to the games but it is also more expensive.

I'd believe it if College Station weren't such a god forsaken dump.  I just can't believe enough people want to go to that sty to create the demand necessary to drive prices that high.

Asking and getting are two entirely different things. There is no shortage of tickets available. I expect by game time there will be lots of fools begging for face value. Why would anyone in their right mind spend the cost of a week vacation in Hawaii on a football game?

It's a much smaller stadium compared to Alabama's, only 88 thousand.  If this stadium held 100 thousand seats plus the demand would be much lower.

Something tells me it's going to be a blowout.  Alabama wins big time.  These games rarely live up to the hype.

Think Ill watch on the idiot box and splurge on a 763 dollar single malt.

"secondary market"..........funny. Just stop the p.c. speak and scalper.  But if I buy for 763 on the secondary market and resell for $1000, will I become the "third market"?

@IrishLegion Because of the atmosphere.  For a true die-hard fan, there is nothing like the thrill of walking into the stadium before a big game.  People chanting, talking trash, etc.

It's simply an experience you can't have walking into your living room, no matter how high the definition on your TV.

@IrishLegion Haven't been to a game in a long time.  Even when someone GIVES you tickets I have parking $25, tolls $3, gas $10, concessions $50+ and have to walk through rough areas to get to the stadium.  You keep the "free" tickets.  I'll be at home watching on my 55" HD.

@joemichael smaller= more reverberated noise....something tells me Texas will fall out of the Top 25 this week..... OH WAIT...

@Alabama_2013_National_Champions Or they could consider leaving him alone for a few minutes.  Why the eff would anyone in their right mind want to see Manziel for 100% of the game?

@WHO*IS*ESPN No,you'll be richer. And depending where/how you sell them, you might be a criminal. You'll make just enough for bail and fine.

@WHO*IS*ESPN No - you would be another actor in the secondary market.  So would your purchaser.

Don't leave out the number of beatings and shootings that have happened in the parking lots around the country the past few years.

@blacklips @joemichael maybe he is a tx fan...but when you look at an a&m defense that gave up 509 yards and 31 points to a team like rice then gives up 390 yards and 28 points to sam houston st. its not hard to think that when they face a team of alabama's caliber things could get ugly for the aggies...

@NebojsaTodorovic That's insulting to the millions of people who have amazing experiences, when you highlight the very, very rare situations when these happen. Especially the rarity it happens to innocent people not drinking.

@BeauBradshaw @blacklips @joemichael .. well when 6 of your starters on defense are suspended for the first two games at the last second, usually bad things are going to happen for awhile... lets judge the defense at its full strength this Saturday .
