Georgia WR Malcolm Mitchell has torn ACL, will miss rest of season
The game wasn’t the only thing Georgia lost against Clemson on Saturday. The Bulldogs also were without Malcolm Mitchell for most of the evening after he was injured celebrating running back Todd Gurley’s first touchdown. And that celebration was even more costly: Mitchell will be out for the season after tearing his ACL, according to Head Coach Mark Richt.
Georgia star receiver Malcolm Mitchell has indeed torn his ACL and will miss the season, Mark Richt has confirmed.

Georgia had high hopes entering the season as a darkhorse BCS contender, but Saturday set the Dawgs back significantly. Mitchell has 85 career receptions and entered the season as one of quarterback Aaron Murray’s more reliable returning targets. Fluke injuries happen to every team (just look at what Virginia Tech has had to do already), but you hate to see a kid hurt celebrating a big play by his teammate.
