Report: South Carolina finds Jadeveon Clowney/JAY Z contact violation free

Jadeveon Clowney, NCAA, South Carolina Gamecocks

It looks like Jadeveon Clowney is safe from any NCAA trouble. According to GamecockCentral.com, South Carolina has completed a review of Clowney’s rumored contact with rapper and talent agent JAY Z and found no compliance violations.

ESPN’s Travis Haney tweeted a photo of a handwritten release from South Carolina confirming the report.

Reports surfaced on Tuesday stating that Clowney, South Carolina’s junior defensive end, had been in regular contact with Jay-Z about joining the rapper’s new talent agency, Roc Nation Sports. Clowney posted an article discussing the news on his Instagram account, which included a sentence saying, “You kno [sic] we about to turn up. Dream coming true.” Clowney later deleted the post. South Carolina Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations, Steve Fink, told NFL.com that the school’s compliance office is performing a “standard operating procedure.”

SI.com’s Stewart Mandel noted that even if Clowney and Jay-Z had made contact, an NCAA violation would only occur if money exchanged hands or a deal was agreed upon.
