March comes in like a very cold lion, or Bearcat

Good morning! If you’re feeling a little cold and sluggish today, we suggest you consider the plights of certain elite college athletes who had to be outside running in shorts at 5:30 a.m. FBS teams kicking off spring practice this week: Arkansas, BYU, Cincinnati, Clemson, Colorado, Duke, Illinois, Kansas, Mississippi, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulsa, UNLV, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin. It is currently 28 degrees in Morgantown and 33 and snowing in Madison.

Georgia, underway since last week, is using the unusual weather to its advantage, according to the Dawgs’ latest practice report:

“We actually got a little snow, so that was interesting for spring ball,” said [Mark] Richt. “We had a really good day. It was very high energy. My guess is that it had to do with staying warm—I don’t know if they would have been hustling if it had been warmer. But they were really hustling. We skipped all the breaks and just kept going. Nobody wanted to stand still.”
