Florida WR coach Aubrey Hill resigns

The University of Florida announced the resignation of receivers coach Aubrey Hill Friday morning via statements from Hill and Will Muschamp.

Here’s Muschamp: “Aubrey informed me he was resigning for personal reasons that have nothing to do with the University of Florida.”

Here’s Hill: “I have too much love and respect for this program to become a distraction as I deal with some personal issues.”

And here’s Yahoo(!) Sports, reporting how impermissible recruiting practices may have bled over into Hill’s former employer, Al Golden’s Miami Hurricanes:

The former Miami staffer told Yahoo! Sports that Hill, a then-Miami assistant, was present at the restaurant and arranged for Allen to pick [quarterback prospect Teddy] Bridgewater up and transport him home – a violation of NCAA rules. The staffer also said Golden was aware Allen was there to take Bridgewater home. Hill left Golden’s staff two weeks after this alleged incident, joining the University of Florida’s staff as an assistant.

Hill had popped up in the Nevin Shapiro saga prior to this; Yahoo’s collection of allegations against him can be perused here.
