I really wish Wisky and Alabama had played that home-and-home. The culture shock when their fans went to the vistors place would’ve be great

For reasons not involving gameday fisticuffs over the proper cooking of meats over open flames, it’s sad for football that the possibility of the ‘Bama-Wisconsin series has apparently been torpedoed. We all know why these profiterole-laced schedules exist for college football’s elite programs, and why the relationship between the powerhouses of the sport and its lesser luminaries is a symbiotic one. That doesn’t mean we have to like the games that result.
So, that’s unfortunate. But if what Wisconsin’s up to is part of a new trend toward marquee-on-marquee home-and-homes to bolster teams’ bodies of work for the playoff selectors, we are unreservedly all for it. The reward grows with the risk in series like this, and the fans benefit more than anybody.
