That Tebow quote, preserved

Like many sports fans without four years of hard Gainesville living under our belts, we did not much care for the reign of Tim Tebow. But he’s finally (reportedly) had a relatable human moment in the public eye, and that earns him at least a grim nod-and-point.
Last Friday, GatorZone had a report from a booster event in Winter Park, which featured a Tebow appearance highlighted by the following delightful barb hurled at Brady Quinn (with perfect form, it must be said):
On being a Gator in the NFL and on Brady Quinn (without mentioning his name): “So many guys come up to me and say, ‘What’s it like to be at the University of Florida? What’s it like to be a Gator?’ The first thing I think of is, ‘Wouldn’t you like to know.’ … I had a teammate at Denver who played the same position as me and he went to the University of Notre Dame. He would brag about his university, how great it was. Most of us in the locker room were like, ‘C’mon, we all had opportunities. We chose not to go there.’ … But he talked so much about his university that it became easy. I’d say, ‘Your whole team had one guy who ran under a 5.0 40 [yard dash]. Our kicker ran under 5.0.’ ”
The story now is that the story is gone. That post has since disappeared (or been disappeared), although it still shows up in both a search of the site and in Google cache form (located via Spencer Hall). But we’re actually less interested in who removed it than in recording this one gem of an exchange in wet internet cement. You’re one of us after all, Baby Rhino. We never would have guessed.
